Quay Quarter, Sydney

The ingenhoven + architectus design for the AMP Quay Quarter creates a signature precinct within the city with the 50 Bridge Street AMP Tower being the landmark for an economical, ecological and socially sustainable, future orientated development that combines a vibrant public realm with living and state-of-the-future workplaces. The urban approach with an open place next to Young Street is based on the philosophy of being a "friendly neighbour" by offering a great public domain that is highly integrated with the sur-rounding buildings and as such acts as a catalyst enhancing the vibrancy and amenity of the precinct and the new developments. The multiple public and semi-public levels of the podium are highly interconnected with the central place, not only horizontally but also vertically integrate the public space.

The sensible combination of heritage buildings with the new building massing as well as the careful integrationof the existing 50 Bridge Street Tower are integral parts of an ecological sustainability approach but also expression of a deep understanding of the history of the place and AMP – a generous transformation for the future build within context and not an root-less insertion into the city fabric.
