Orchard Road, Singapore

The Orchard Road is one of the world‘s famous shopping streets. It is a challenge to design a commercial building in this setting particularly if the site is on the junction of Orchard Road and Paterson Poad, which is extreme prominent. We decided to positon the 220m high Residential Tower right next to the junction, as such appearing as a landmark in Orchard Road but at the same time optimizing views from the condominiums inside the tower. A large event space next to the tower clearly marks the entry to the vibrant mall but also serves as a highly vibrant public place. The atrium with waterfalls inside the mall, the naturally ventilated restaurant deck and the roof garden as well as the louver canopy on top of the mall are elements of the green building design that reduce energy use by reducing heat islands and enhancing air movement. Therefore creating a green kind of shopping experience.
