German Federal Pension Fund, Berlin

In Berlin-Wilmersdorf, the German Pension Fund owns several buildings and a training center on a more than 19,000 square meters building plot. On this plot are currently situated a storage and a six-storey office building all to be demolished.

In the new six-story building of the German Pension Fund over 3,000 jobs are to be created: 9 Team Administrative Departments, a training department and the clearing house and a special department. It should be realized office space both in team structures as well as in traditional single and double offices. In addition, a staff restaurant, meeting rooms and a health care center are provided on ground floor.

A comb structure with a depth of 12.90 m and a courtyard width of 15.16 m has been chosen as design principal. In a fit-out grid of 1.35 m and spatial depths of 5.25 m and 4.50 m almost every conceivable space size can be represented. The building is composed of four long and five short office bars connected with corridors. The building is centrally located with its two entrances and thus connects both street levels.
