On refurbishing the 13 stories office building designed by Sepp Ruf in 1968 the basic structure of the building was saved. The former concrete façade was demolished and replaced by a second skin glass façade. The breasts were kept to take advantage of the heat storage of the façade. Despite the high irradiation there is no necessity for mechanical cooling and air conditioning of the office spaces.
The strongest refurbishments took place on ground floor and in the basement. A shelter room and the registry building were transformed into a light-flooded conference- and library building through opening ceiling elements.
The glass breasts elements of the façade are printed with biomorphic structures by the artist Stefan Laskowski. With different lightning conditions and different perspectives of any spectator the façade is constantly changing in color and appearance.
