Christoph Ingenhoven – key speaker at the International Mayors Summit in Düsseldorf, Germany

In the spirit of the conference motto “Living Together,” over 30 mayors, deputy mayors, and thought leaders from 23 countries will be gathering in Düsseldorf from August 30 to September 1 to discuss solutions to the challenges of living together in major cities.

Mayor Thomas Geisel will greet the representatives of metropolises such as Moscow, New York, Calcutta, Dhaka, and Izmir at the Düsseldorf City Hall. Christoph Ingenhoven will be the key speaker at the welcome dinner to be held at the Dreischeibenhaus on Friday.

The main segment of the conference program will take place on Saturday, August 31, when representatives of the cities will discuss examples of good city management in five different subject areas: urban planning, sustainability, security, digitalization, and social inclusion. The theme-based workshops are designed to permit in-depth discussions based on specific case studies from actual cities.

The first Living Together conference was held in 2015 in the Canadian city of Montreal, where mayors and deputy mayors from around the world came together to discuss the challenges of a constantly changing society. They established the “International Observatory of Mayors on Living Together,” an international network of cities that documents best practices. Düsseldorf has been a member of the Observatory since 2016.
The purpose of the exemplary projects is to improve the quality of life in cities worldwide. Participants in the first Living Together conference signed the “Montreal Declaration on Living Together” to promote peaceful coexistence.
