New Trade Fair Hamburg

The Hamburg Trade Fair grounds, the new exhibition centre, are integrated into the city’s layout. It presents an exhibition boulevard running as a living and vivid urban space along an existing street, the Karolinenstrasse. The fully-glazed loggia of the new exhibition centre acts as the axis connecting all parts of the complex. The division of the façades and the eaves heights of the roof shells integrate harmoniously with the existing urban fabric.

The concept for the exhibition halls follows a modular principle, which allows a high degree of flexibility. The halls, constructed in steel with timber roofs [that meet the Forest Stewardship Council standards] are naturally ventilated and filled with daylight. The halls can be divided into smaller units by rearranging rail-mounted partition walls.
